Celebrate Black History Month with the BCS Public Library System
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Discover a book by a black author, learn about historical black figures and see some drawings and paintings from black artists at libraries across Bryan and College Station.
The Carnegie History Center, Clara B. Mounce Public Library and Larry J. Ringer Library have arranged displays for black history month that feature black artists, authors and more.
“It’s a time to celebrate amazing game Shakers, leaders, artists, and encourage others to learn about black history. It’s important foundation of our history,” says Mounce Library U-Services Librarian Jenny Stadler.
Over at Carnegie Library, visitors will be able to learn about some of the first black students to attend Texas A&M University and John Love, who was enslaved in the Brazos Valley in 1859.
Carnegie will also be hosting a genealogy event that will offer resources to help track ancestors.
