We’ve made a list of some Easter events happening around North and West Cumbria that are great for families.

Easter egg hunt at Acorn Bank

Set in the National Trust site in Penrith known as Acorn Bank, you follow a trail and find 10 activities across the site.

It’s cheap enough at £3 per child, which includes a trail sheet, bunny ears, and a chocolate egg at the end – not a bad day out!

It runs from March 28 to April 14, and you have to pay for general admission as well to take part, which costs £9 for an adult, £4.50 for a child, £22.50 for a ‘family’, and £13.50 for one adult and two children.

Easter at Muncaster Castle

Offering arts and crafts, at Muncaster Castle kids can design and make a protective shield for an egg, then drop them from the castle roof.

There’s also an easter egg hunt taking place each day from March 29 to April 1, with successful hunters being rewarded with an Easter treat.

Tickets, which are £9, include entry to all the above, plus the Easter Trail.

Easter Eggstravaganza 2024

From March 23 to April 14, the Walby Farm Park in Crosby-on-Eden will feature 15 hidden golden eggs every day packed with prizes from sweets and stickers to free visits.

They’re also giving away a family day pass if you find the right one.

There are also adorable young lambs to round off the Easter trip.

It runs all day and costs £11.45 for an adult, £14.95 for a child, £9.45 for 65+, and under ones go in free.

Easter archery

This is a bit different and sure to be fun for all ages.

The Derwent Pencil Museum in Keswick will only be giving out Easter Eggs if your aim is spot on, so get your helmets on, aim, and fire!

It costs £15 per person, or £50 for a family of 4.

Be aware, it’s only for those aged eight or over, and the museum needs to be contacted to book a place first

Park trail

Vulcan Park in Workington will host an Easter trail where kids are tasked to find the 10 hidden rabbits to win a prize.

There is also free face painting from 9.30am to 11.30am, crafts, and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

This event takes place on April 1 from 8am to 12pm.

Family fun day at Walkmill Wood

Held by West Cumbria Rivers Trust, this event includes an Easter egg hunt with prizes, forest crafts, and ‘minibeast magic’ where you can ‘explore a secret underworld full of tiny creatures’.

Meet at the Walkmill Wood car park for the free event, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Sellafield Ltd SiX – Social Multiplied Impact Programme and supported by  The Environment Agency.

The event takes place on April 1 from 11am to 2pm.
