Growing Empowerment teaches and educates communities on gardening

CARBONDALE, Colo. (KREX) — Founder of the nonprofit Growing Empowerment Kim Wille has been doing everything she can to help people with food scarcity for over a decade. Since 2013, Wille has built over a thousand gardens on the Western Slope.

Wille has also taught gardening classes at libraries and schools for some time. Her final sessions will be at the Rifle and Parachute libraries on April13, Pitkin County and Basalt libraries on April 20 and then at the Rifle library on April 27.


Then, starting in May, she will be hosting people who want to learn how to build gardens at her home every Saturday. To become a participate, you can email her at Kim.Wille@gmail.com

She will also have a podcast and YouTube channel called High Altitude Gardner launching in May to teach people the aspects of high altitude gardening all throughout the gardening season.

And during the summer months, Wille will host underprivileged kids from the El Jubel area, again at her home, to teach them the importance and fundamentals of gardening.
