Anderson-Lee Library announces April events | News, Sports, Jobs

SILVER CREEK – Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main Street in Silver Creek has announced programming for the month of April. Programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required unless stated otherwise, to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 716-934-3468, stop by 43 Main Street, message us on Facebook, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.org and click on our events tab for easy online registration. You can also sign up for email/text reminders when you register online!

The library will be closed on Monday, April 8th for the solar eclipse.

Pre-school Storytime for children ages 2-5 on Thursday mornings April 4, 11, 18, and 25 with Miss Jill at 10:30 am. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Pre-registration is requested.

School Age Storytime for children 6-12 years of age on Thursday mornings April 4, 11, 18, and 25 at 10:30 am with Miss Amy. Stories, crafts, games, and other activities are offered. Pre-registration is requested.

The Secret Society of the Twisted Stitchers: Friday April 5 from noon-2pm Starting April 12 the time will change to 2-4pm. This club is for all who love handiwork. Ages 10 and older and all skill levels are welcome! Please bring your own supplies. Just getting started? For knitting, bring size 10/10.5 bamboo needles and a light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). For crochet, bring a size H hook and light-colored worsted weight yarn (#4). Come and learn or come and work on a project with others who love to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt etc.! No registration required. You do not need to commit to each week to attend. Please stop in and stitch!

Chess Club: All skill levels are welcome to attend Chess Club! We will meet on Fridays from 2-3pm. For ages 10+ and registration is not required. Please stop in and play!

Baby Animals from Sun-Dance-Kids Farm: Monday, April 1 at 2pm. Farmer Mike Morton will bring a variety of baby animals for a visit! Please register to we can make room for all who wish to attend.

Make a Popsicle Stick Birdfeeder: Tuesday, April 2 at 2pm. Design and assemble a birdfeeder using popsicle sticks. We will be using hot glue guns for this project, so best for ages 6 and older. Pre-registration is required to ensure enough materials for all.

Lego Club for ages 5-12, Thursday, April 11 at 6:30pm. Build the challenge of the day, pick a challenge card or free build. Your choice! Limit of 10 children and pre-registration is required.

Introduction to Beekeeping: Saturday, April 13 at 10:30am. Are you interested in keeping honeybees and unsure how to start or what is involved? Join experienced beekeepers and learn everything you need to know to get started: how to order honeybees, maintenance of hives, common diseases, how to make or order hive boxes, recommended pollinator plants, and much more!

Presenters include Shannon Rinow, Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program Coordinator and Michael Rinow, Vice President of the Chautauqua County Beekeeper’s Association and owner of Bee Happy Farm & Apothecary in Ashville, NY. Pre-registration is appreciated.

Invasive Plant Species: What, Why, How: Bottom of Form

Saturday, April 20 at 10:30am. Join Master Gardener volunteer, Sharon Rinehart as she shares information on invasive plants and the challenges we face with a warming climate. Invasive species are non-native species that can cause harm to the environment, the economy or to human health. Invasive species are one of the greatest threats to New York’s biodiversity. Pre-registration is appreciated!

Anderson-Lee Library is open to the public Monday and Tuesday from 12-8 pm, Thursday 10 am to 8 pm, Friday 12-5 pm, and Saturday 10 am-2 pm. The library is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
