Theatrical experience commemorating the Battle for Singapore

Explore Singapore’s history and the brave heroes who fought during the Fall of Singapore with a series of events around town. Immerse yourself in the story of the Malay Regiment with an interactive theatrical experience called Loyal and True: A Theatrical Experience at Reflections at Bukit Chandu! Hear from the characters about their thoughts and feelings regarding their experiences during World War Two, and discover the heroic and human aspects of the Malay Regiment. Tickets are $16 however note that this event is recommended for ages 13 and up. More events here.

Outdoor Movie: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (FREE!)

Take the family over to Palawan Green to enjoy the free outdoor movie screenings that take place on Fridays on certain weekends! Pack your picnic rugs and head over to enjoy tasty food and drinks (available to purchase on site), and an atmospheric outdoor movie screening. On 1 March at 7:50pm there’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001).

Strike your best stance for a wand duel photo before trying your hand at casting a Patronus to illuminate the dark woods. Get your hands on the wizarding world beverage, Butterbeer™, and explore exclusive merchandise from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies at the gift shop. The experience is created by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment in partnership with Fever. Take the family over to the STPI Open House and venture into Brassville, home of the finest printmakers and papermakers. You can create a little robot friend (pictured), decorate a snazzy suitcase and more. The annual Open House also provides a rare opportunity to explore STPI’s Creative Workshop, a space for artists to experiment with various print and papermaking techniques. Put your creative cogs and gears to work with a variety of art stations and workshops, which run throughout the day. Or print with the pros in the Creative Workshop, and bring home your own creations. All activities are suitable for all ages, unless otherwise stated. More info here.

Five Footway Festival: Stories of Chinatown

Five Footway Festival returns from 9 to 17 March 2024 to bring the past stories of Chinatown to life for all ages! Look out for a host of exciting activities for all ages at the Five Footway Festival taking place at various locations in Chinatown where the streets will come alive with the hustle and bustle of Chinatown in the 1900s. Get an understanding of the traditions of our forefathers in Singapore’s Chinatown, and how the lives of early immigrants were centred at the Five Footway across trades, clan activities, cultural, arts and entertainment activities. There will be traditional childhood games, street snacks, opera performances, dragon dances, wushu, culinary classes, movies and theatrical tours along Smith Street, Pagoda Street and Sago Street. Admission to the Five Footway Festival is free. Tickets for selected workshops can be purchased here.

Explore the revamped Keppel Art Centre (FREE!)

The Keppel Art Centre for Education has had a revamp, and we love the immersive spaces that encourage kids to learn through play. They can learn about the core elements of art through a digital art experience and even create abstract art with shapes and colours and watch it be projected onto the wall. Curious little inventors will love the Makers Studio, where they can try their hand at creating 3D Art or build giant wooden sculptures. Just be sure to book your slot ahead of time to avoid disappointment!

Visit the newly opened Kiztopia at Jewel

Spend the afternoon at Kiztopia’s newest indoor playground at Jewel Changi Airport. This aviation-themed wonderland is located inside Toys “R” Us and features trampolines, obstacle courses and even a funnel slide that ends in an ocean ball pit. Kids can explore a giant plane structure and snap a photo with a larger-than-life boarding pass. We’re pretty sure that this will be your aviation-loving kiddo’s new favourite playground! Head to a Fire Station Open House (FREE!)

Does your kiddo love fire engines? Did you know you can take them to see a working Fire Station on the weekend for free? Selected Fire Stations are open for visits on Saturday mornings over two time slots – 9am to 9:50am or 10am to 10:50am. Both timeslots are guided tours. Tots will love this experience where they can learn about the cool Emergency Vehicles and their capabilities, watch a demo on donning the full firefighting protective gear, and see how the equipment is used (nothing beats seeing those massive sprays in person!).

New Playground at Gillman Barracks (FREE!)

We love finding new playgrounds around town and the latest one is at The Gillman Barracks beside Carpark A, in front of Block 9. Climb the tower via the climbing wall or cargo net, zoom down two slides or come down via the fireman’s pole! See our video here.

Check out Camp Road Playground (FREE!)

Camp Road Interim Playground

Camp Road Interim Playground just off Tanglin Road is a small play area with a nature playground with logs and tree stumps to balance on and jump across. There’s a short slide and wide spaces to run around shaded by trees. Look out for the longer colourful slide near the bucket swing, and older kid’s swing plus there’s also an old-fashioned chair seat swing. We love that there’s an inclusive element to this playground with the wheelchair swing. Further down you’ll come across reflexology paths in pretty white and black stones and a bee hotel!

We are so excited that Tayo Station playground at Downtown East has reopened with an expanded kiddy road circuit, where kids can drive through a realistic cityscape with pedestrian crossings, traffic lights that work and even a garage! Plus, look out for tube slides and a two-storey play structure. Little ones will love the sensory play areas, while older kids can dash up the race ramp and get competitive with a basketball competition. Tickets and more info here.

Visit the Children’s Museum Singapore

Singapore’s first-ever dedicated children’s museum, the new Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG), offers young kids a creative way to learn about Singapore’s history thanks to the engaging exhibitions. Young toddlers can explore the Play Pod – a fun area for free play – while older kids can wander the streets of old in Singapore at The Marketplace, discover spices, design stamps, and admire bird life. Try the Bumper Cars at Jurong Point

Check out the new maxi drift bumper cars at Timezone Jurong Point! These drift cars are designed to be child-friendly and can accommodate up to two passengers onboard each car. Zoom around the 11-metre by 20-metre track at this mega Timezone — the second largest in Singapore, with 130 games on offer. We reckon it will be super popular with kiddos’ birthday parties or for a fun afternoon escaping the tropical heat!

Visit the New 3-level Go-Kart Circuit Hyperdrive

Part of the family beach club, Shangri-La’s Palawan Sands, the newly opened HyperDrive is a fully electric and indoor go-karting experience! This three-level racetrack offers an integrated gamified experience that will transport drivers into a virtual game. Look out for 308 metres of thrilling straightways and 14 exciting turns. Go ‘hunting’ for giants on Sentosa! (FREE!)

The giants are here! Little Lyn, Reef the Chief, Curious Sue, and Dreamer Dee – collectively known as Explorers of Sentosa, have landed on the shores of Palawan Beach in Sentosa! ⁠The family of four giant sculptures were made using reclaimed wood by internationally renowned Copenhagen-based recycling artist Thomas Dambo, and each took approximately 700 hours to build. With the help of an interactive online treasure trail map, visitors can join the search for the Explorers of Sentosa, an experiential mixed-media installation, by first discovering “breadcrumbs”, which contain codes to unravel clues that would lead them to the sculptures.⁠ ⁠The sculptures will be free to view and situated along Palawan Beach till 2024.

If you have little dino fans and are in the Gardens by the Bay area, head over for a meal at the newly opened Jurassic Nest dinosaur-themed food hall. You’ll find 18 dinosaurs including a T. rex and Brachiosaurus, which will come alive, roaring to original soundtracks (approximately three minutes each time). Catch the dinosaur ‘show’ with free admission every hour from 12pm to 8pm. You’ll also find Michelin-starred brands serving up a range of Asian cuisine, from Hawker Chan’s Chicken Rice and Tsuta Ramen to Mama by Putien. Catch the other static dinosaurs scattered across the food hall while you dine on your favourite foods. Don’t miss the new educational trail that takes you around the gardens on a prehistoric adventure to learn more about the unique diets of herbivorous dinosaurs! Check here for opening times.

Visit Science Centre (the Fire Tornado demo is back on!)

A visit to the Science Centre Singapore is all the more appealing now that water play is back on; plus, the Fire Tornado exhibit is finally back in action too! Come face to face with one of the most terrifying and spectacular phenomena as you marvel at the fire tornado and its flaming vortex that takes place in a specially built chamber. The column of fire reaches over 600 degrees Celsius and makes quite a spectacle while bringing science to life for kiddos! Read our guide to the Science Centre here.

Check out a water park (FREE!)

Kids will love splashing around the animal-themed play space at the free rooftop water playground at Tampines 1 mall. There’s also a dry play area with a slide and a wash area to clean up afterwards. Have fun at Jurong Lake Gardens (FREE!)

Treat the kids to a play at Jurong Lake Gardens’ playground, Forest Ramble. The water play is open, and the main playground is lots of fun, with structures to climb on and a long slide too. There are 13 different adventure play areas to explore at Forest Ramble, with mini trampolines, rope obstacle courses and other equipment that is nature-inspired based on the actions and motions of the animals that inhabit the freshwater swamp. Take the kids on a street art hunt (FREE!)

Have fun at a Dino-themed Water Playground (FREE!)

There’s a new dinosaur-themed water playground at Causeway Point with a Toddler Dino Zone, Adventure Volcano and Crater Zone. Kids will have a blast zooming down the two long slides, running through the dinosaur ribcage with water jets and watching the volcano erupt (with water!).
