2024 Freedom Festival to feature Don McLean, drone show

VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) – This year’s Freedom Festival is fourth months away, but the Friends of Vienna are already hard at work making arrangements.

Friends of Vienna President Jack Mathers said they want this year’s festival to be an extravaganza with new and exciting entertainment.

One new addition to the festival will be a drone light show with a patriotic theme. This year’s Freedom Festival will also feature singer-songwriter Don McLean among its lineup of musical artists.

Mathers said part of the goal of the Freedom Festival is to bring entertainment and activities that otherwise wouldn’t come to Vienna.“We look and we say, ‘Why not?” Mathers said. “Why not in Vienna? Why not here? Why not for this community? Why everywhere else, you know?’ This’ll be the ones that people are looking at us and going, ‘Why doesn’t our community have that?’ So, you know, we want to bring it here. It’s for the people.”

The Freedom Festival will take place on June 28 and 29, the weekend before the Fourth of July; and on July 4 and 5. In addition to the new entertainment, the festival will feature carnival rides and vendors as it has in the past.
