Things to do in Little Rock to enjoy the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

Are you planning to view the total solar eclipse on April 8? The City of Little Rock has organized several events to celebrate the historic event.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — We are one month away from the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse, and several Arkansas cities are preparing events, including Little Rock.

“It’s incredibly possible that this is going to be the largest tourism event in Little Rock’s history,” said Jeff Chastain with the Little Rock Visitors and Convention Bureau.

It’s anticipated that thousands will be coming to Arkansas for the solar eclipse on April 8.

Little Rock is one of many cities preparing for the influx.

“We’re certain that if you are a visitor to the City of Little Rock or if you live in the City of Little Rock, you’ll have an amazing opportunity to watch this event,” said Aaron Sadler with the City of Little Rock.

The Little Rock Visitors and Convention Bureau and the city are partnering to provide the best possible experience.

There are pre-eclipse events leading up to the historic day at SoMa, Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Discovery.

Then, on the big day, there will be several watch parties and opportunities for live music. Here’s a list of a few happening around Little Rock:

“We’re preparing for watch parties and a box that will include glasses, snack treats, like Eclipse gum, Capri Suns and Moon Pies,” Sadler said.

And if you haven’t figured out your plans yet, you still have time.

“We’ve got plenty of rooms, and Little Rock is ready to welcome people here for the eclipse,” Chastain said.

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. will also declare a state of emergency during the eclipse, which would allow campers in the city parks if necessary.
