Shoseian to Host Cherry Blossom Festival

At the Shoseian Cherry Blossom Festival there will be three seatings of Urasenke tea ceremony performed by Nakada Shachu.

Performance Schedule
10 a.m.: Japanese Dance & Koto Music by Tendo Ryu and Kotoeda Group
11 a.m.: African Drumming by The Peace Players and Gerald Rivers
11:30 a.m.: Katori Shinto Ryu – Old School Martial Arts by Kitano-sensei
12 p.m.: Sumo by Sumo Dan
1 p.m. Shinkendo-Japanese Swordsmanship by Mashuu Dojo
1:30 p.m.: Kimono Show by Nadeshiko-kai
2 p.m. Live music and Village Dancing by Team Kawachi Ondo
2:30 p.m. Dance music by DJ Yui Sensational

Shoseian “Whispering Pine” Teahouse will hold their annual Cherry Blossom Festival on Sunday, March 17 at Brand Park 1601 West Mountain St., Glendale. The event is an opportunity to experience Japanese and Japanese American culture.

There will be three seatings of Urasenke tea ceremony performed by Nakada Shachu. Seating is limited; advance paid reservation required. $25 per person.

The celebration will also feature: Japanese calligraphy by Shodo Table; ink brush painting by Nan Rae Studios; Friends of Shoseian booth with onigiri, mochi and snacks; bonsai display by Kaz Nakanishi; Katori Shinto Ryu booth; kimono culture booth by Nadeshiko Kai; Tokyo Style food truck.
