Ahmedabad: Schools have been asked by the district education officer to observe Cheti Chand on April 10 and Eid on April 11 as public holidays. The Ahmedabad City DEO has issued a stern warning to schools after receiving complaints about them remaining open on these holidays. The DEO’s letter to schools emphasizes govt’s mandate from a Nov 2023 notification, which requires all schools to adhere to the public holiday calendar for 2024.Strict action has been threatened against schools that fail to comply. Govt’s directive aims to ensure that schools respect the significance of these cultural festivities and provide students and staff with the opportunity to celebrate. tnn
