Zakharova blamed West for collapse of economy, statehood and aggravation of public social issue in Armenia

It is unfortunate that Yerevan stubbornly ignores the anti-Russian orientation of such events, their orientation against the interests of the majority of countries in the region and their inconsistency with the goals of achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus, said Maria Zakharova, Official Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the weekly briefing today.

She blamed the West for the collapse of Armenia’s economy, statehood and the aggravation of public social issues.

“As for US and EU programs in the region, we are based on real facts: since April 1, Pentagon instructors have been in Yerevan, they have come to share the working methods of American military propaganda. On March 19, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg visited Armenia and reproduced the anti-Russian narratives. In September of last year, military exercises were held in Armenia with the participation of the USA. All of them are anti-Russian measures and are aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.

Armenia has experience in solving the problems of the intra-regional situation with its own resources and the resources of neighboring countries. Here, all are free countries and make their own decisions, but then you have to take responsibility for those decisions and not blame everything on the CSTO, Russia,” said Zakharova.

On April 5, the meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will take place in Brussels.
