Craven Community College (Craven CC) will host “Spring Showers Brings STEM Powers” on the Havelock Campus on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This free event is open to the public and includes hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities for the whole family.
“We want to engage the community and pique interest in the variety of STEM careers available in Eastern NC by showcasing the real-world applications of STEM topics,” said Tanya McGhee, dean of the Craven CC Havelock Campus.
Activities throughout the day will include color-changing slime, self-inflating balloons, mystery scents and digs for shark teeth.
This STEM event is held in collaboration with Fleet Readiness Center East, Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation, JROTC, Havelock High School, Aurora Fossil Museum, Coastal Environment Partnership, Zing Zumm Children’s Museum, Early College EAST, Havelock Fire and Rescue, Havelock Parks and Recreation, Craven County Library, NC State University and more. “Spring Showers Brings STEM Powers” was scheduled in collaboration with the City of Havelock to allow families the opportunity to attend the Easter Egg Hunt that will be held earlier that morning at the Havelock City Park.
